Convert MySQL datetimes between UTC and local time
Databases often store times in UTC, while the server, the users and the
reports all work in local time. This app converts a MySQL datetime between UTC
and a local offset, and shows the Unix epoch and the MySQL expression that does
the same conversion.
Open the app
How to use it
- Pick the Direction : UTC to Local, or Local to UTC.
- Pick the Local offset. It starts at your device's current offset.
- Type the Date and time as YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS, or press Now.
- Read the Result, the Unix epoch and the MySQL expression,
and use Copy to take any of them.
- You can also type a Unix epoch to see the date and time it represents.
Example
UTC to Local at +10:00 (Brisbane) :
- Date and time : 2026-10-07 16:15:02
- Result : 2026-10-08 02:15:02
- Unix epoch : 1791389702
- MySQL : CONVERT_TZ('2026-10-07 16:15:02', '+00:00', '+10:00')
Notes
- The offsets are fixed, so they do not follow daylight saving. Choose the
summer or winter offset that applies on the date you are converting.
- CONVERT_TZ with numeric offsets such as '+10:00' works on any MySQL server.
Named zones such as 'Australia/Brisbane' only work once the MySQL time zone
tables have been loaded.
- The Unix epoch is always the number of seconds since 1970-01-01 00:00:00 UTC,
whatever the local offset.
